Ayurveda is a holistic healing science which comprises of two words, Ayu and Veda. Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge or science. So the literal meaning of the word Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda is a science dealing not only with treatment of some Diseases but is a complete way of life.
The essence of treatment is the removal of the cause and avoidance of causative factors. Ayurvedic treatment does not mean suppressing the main symptoms and creating some new ones as side effects of the main treatment. It is to remove the root cause and give permanent relief. any side effects.
Objectives of Ayurveda
Ayurveda aims at making a happy, healthy and peaceful society.
There are two objectives of Ayurveda
- To maintain the health of healthy people with specific diet, hygiene, living habits, exercises and stabilizing techniques. Following these guidelines enables a healthy person to maintain health and increase their life-span.
- To cure the Diseases of sick people. This aspect relates to various Diseases, their causes, diagnosis, remedies and therapies to cure and prevent relapses of illness.

Siddha Science is the oldest system of medicine in India from Dravidian culture. The word Siddha comes from the word 'Sidhi' - attaining perfection in life or heavenly bliss, The siddha system of medicines originated from ancient Tamil Land from B.C 10000 - BC 4000. Siddha system of medicine emerged from the highly evolved consciousness of Siddhars.
Siddhar's yogic power, intuitions and clarified intellect enabled them to explore science of Siddha. There findings related to medicinal Plants, metals, minerals, animal products and the properties of drugs, its purification, processing, dosages, toxicity, anti-tode and pathology, clinical application were preserved in the form of Tamil verses.
